so my computers cpu has started acting up. its been running from at 100% for just being i games that it didnt the day before. when just having one tab of google up and no other programs on it runs at 80%. ive checked task manager like others say to do. but its the game i have open or google od discord that takes the cpu all up. tested all this with only on app open at a time not all at same time. the audio driver itself take up 8% by itself when it usually doesnt take that much.

Hello @Admral_ben
There must be something running to force the cpu to eat up resources like that. I can run Discord and a browser and it will only take up 1-2% of my 8700k cpu.
Maybe post a screen shot of the task manager with the CPU column selected so the highest percentages show at top.
One thing you could try is booting the PC in a clean state and see whats eating up the cpu.
That is where you disable services in the system, then gradually add back services until you find the culprit.

If you are under warranty, you can simply contact HP Support directly for warranty help also.
Know that they might have you do an HP factory recovery which would wipe the drive and reinstall Windows.

ok thx,
previously ive tried reseting but wouldnt work same as going to previous version of windows.
i tried taking a screen shot and it just wasnt working so u had to take a pic with my phone
this is with only taskmanager open. i manage to let my computer sit over night off and it lowered. it use to be 20-30% average

Hmm. Even still, your Task Manager and System should be lower than that.
All my machines show Task Manager only using an average of 0.4% not 4.0%.
When you say you tried resetting... I just want to make sure I'm understanding you correctly.
Do you mean you tried to re-install Windows with the HP Recovery and afterwards, the system still gave the same results?
Or
You tried to re-install Windows but the recovery wouldnt re-install Windows, rather it failed or wasn't accessible?
Or
You did a Power Reset? Thats where you hold down the power button for 30 seconds to drain the mobo capacitors.

so i have tryed resetting back to factory by just typing in the start bar when u press the windows button. ive tried reseting through the recovery options in the control pannel. and i tried the hold power button for 30 seconds

oh ok thats what u mean
so basically they will start reseting but abot 30% way through it will just stop, say its reverting any changes, and then go to this blue screen that has continu to start or troubleshoot. there are more in this blue menu but i forgot what this menu was called. this happens everytime i try to reset, doesnt matter if i say save my files or not.
i hope this helps

OK Thanks.
I think you are going to have to do a warranty repair.
Before you call them... Lets see if you can run the UEFI Diagnostics.
With the computer off, press the power button and immediately and rapidly tap the F2 button.
The UEFI Diagnostics menu should appear.
Go to Component Tests and navigate to Hard Drive/Storage Tests.
Run the Extensive Test.
If the hard drive fails a test, write down the failure ID (24-digit code)
Let me know what happens.
