Hi @Alex13541,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

Sorry to hear about the trouble you have to face on your OMEN 16 laptop when games won’t start while charging:

Why This Happens

This issue often occurs due to:

  • Hybrid GPU mode conflicts when switching between battery and AC power.
  • OMEN Gaming Hub performance settings limiting GPU usage while charging.
  • Windows Game Mode or power profiles are misconfigured.
  • Corrupted graphics drivers after updates.

Recommended Steps

1. Check OMEN Gaming Hub Settings

  • Open OMEN Gaming Hub.
  • Go to Performance Control.
  • Ensure Hybrid Mode is set correctly:
    • For gaming, select Discrete GPU only or Performance Mode.
  • Disable Eco Mode if enabled.

2. Update Graphics Drivers

  • Download the latest drivers from HP: Official HP® Support
  • Update both Intel GPU and NVIDIA/AMD GPU drivers.

3. Adjust Windows Power Settings

  • Go to Settings > System > Power & Battery.
  • Under Plugged in, set Performance Mode.
  • Disable Battery Saver.

4. Check Game Launch Settings

  • Right-click the game → Run as Administrator.
  • Ensure no external GPU switching software conflicts.

5. BIOS & Firmware Update

  • Install the latest BIOS for OMEN 16 from the HP Support page.
  • Restart and test again.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
