Hi @jaycee19,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding laptop's GPU not getting detected!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

follow these steps to troubleshoot before claiming a warranty replacement:

Check Device Manager

  1. Press Win + X and select Device Manager.
  2. Expand Display Adapters.
  3. If your GPU isn’t listed:
    • Click View → Show Hidden Devices to see if it appears faded.
    • If it’s there but has a yellow exclamation mark, right-click and select Properties for error details.

Check BIOS/UEFI

  1. Restart your PC and press F2, F10, DEL, or Esc (depending on your motherboard) to enter BIOS.
  2. Look for Advanced Settings → PCIe Configuration.
  3. Make sure the PCIe slot is enabled and set to Auto.

Reseat the GPU

  1. Turn off the PC and unplug it.
  2. Remove the GPU from its PCIe slot.
  3. Check for dust or physical damage.
  4. Reinsert it properly and ensure it’s firmly seated.
  5. Plug the power cables back in.

Software & Driver Fixes

Update or Reinstall GPU Drivers

  1. Download the latest drivers from the NVIDIA/AMD website.
  2. Uninstall the existing drivers using DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller) in Safe Mode.
  3. Restart and install the new drivers.

Check Windows Updates

  1. Open Settings → Windows Update.
  2. Install any pending updates.
  3. Restart and check if the GPU is detected.

Hardware & Power Supply Checks

Check PCIe Slot & Power Supply

  1. Try installing the GPU in another PCIe slot.
  2. If possible, test with another PSU (Power Supply Unit) to ensure it’s delivering enough power.
  3. If your PSU has multiple PCIe power cables, try switching cables.

Test in Another PC

If possible, install the GPU in another system to check if it’s detected. If it works, the issue is likely with your motherboard or PSU.
