I am trying to find out whether the BIOS

I have in my laptop is the latest revision as I want to use an M.2 SSD but the pc can't see it. has anyone been successful in installing on of these, and what revision of BIOS do they have?

I am aware that this pc is now "out of support" and the support website tells me that there are no updates for anything.

If your notebook has BIOS version F.91 installed, I believe that is the latest version.

If not, here are the info and exe links to that update:

https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp99001-99500/sp99036.exe

Chapter 1 of the service manual indicates that only M.2 SATA SSD's are supported.

If you installed a NVMe SSD, that is probably the reason for your current dilemma.

Thanks for the swift reply.

My BIOS is F.77 so I'm going to update to the version you pointed me to, and retest. The M.2 ssd I have for the laptop is the type suggested by Crucial as an upgrade for the machine:  (Fikwot FN501 Pro) NVMe SSD 512GB M.2 2280 PCIe Gen3

Hopefuly, the more modern BIOS will support NVMe...

... I'll let you know when I have tested.

You're very welcome.

The Crucial memory/SSD report I found for your notebook indicates that they only sell 2.5" SATA drives for it, which indicates that NVMe SSD's are not supported, or they would have had some listed there.

Crucial quit making M.2 SATA SSDs a few years ago, since hardly anyone buys those nowadays.

Should the BIOS update not get the NVMe SSD to work, and you want to install a M.2 SATA SSD instead, then this should be the best performing drive on the market.

WD Blue SA510 500GB, M.2 SATA SSD, up to 560 MB/s, Includes Acronis True Image for Western Digital, ...

Anytime.

Glad to have been of assistance.

Sorry that updating the BIOS didn't allow NVMe SSD's to be supported.
