@elight, Welcome to HP Support Community,
Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue
If you're experiencing FPS drops on your HP Victus 16 when plugging in the charger, it might be due to power management settings or hardware performance configurations. Here are a few tips to help resolve this issue:
Power Settings: Check the power management options in Windows. Sometimes, plugging in the charger might switch to a power-saving mode if the settings are configured to optimize battery usage while connected to a charger. Ensure that both battery and plugged-in settings are optimized for performance.
Graphics Settings: Make sure your graphics settings are configured correctly. Some laptops are set to switch between integrated and dedicated graphics depending on whether the device is plugged in to save power. Verify that your HP Victus is using the correct GPU while plugged in.
Driver Updates: Ensure your graphics drivers and system firmware are up to date. Outdated drivers can lead to performance issues. You can update them through HP Support Assistant or directly from the device manager in Windows.
Check for Background Processes: Sometimes, other applications or updates running in the background can consume resources, leading to performance drops. Check Task Manager for any processes using too much CPU or memory.
Thermal Management: When plugged in, the laptop may increase power to components, which could lead to overheating if the cooling system is not functioning optimally. Ensure that the vents are not blocked and clean them if necessary.
I hope this helps.
Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.
Take care and have a good day.
