@Rohan_n, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding HP Omen 16 Battery Charging Issue!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

If your HP Omen 16 laptop is charging only when it is shut down and not when it is on, you can follow these steps to diagnose and potentially resolve the issue:

Check Power Adapter and Connection:

  • Ensure the power adapter is securely connected to the laptop and the power source.
  • Test the power adapter on another laptop (if available) to confirm it's working properly.

Inspect Power Settings:

  • Navigate to the power settings in the Control Panel:
    1. Start > Control Panel > System and Security > Power Options.
  • Verify if any power settings are disabling charging when the laptop is powered on.

Update BIOS and Battery Drivers:

  • Check if there are updates available for BIOS and battery drivers:
    • Visit the HP Support website.
    • Search for your HP Omen 16 model and download the latest updates.

Run Battery Check:

  • Use HP's Battery Check tool to diagnose battery health:
    • Start > Help and Support > Troubleshoot > Power, Thermal and Mechanical > Battery Check.

Calibrate the Battery:

  • Fully charge the battery, disable sleep and hibernation, completely discharge it, and then recharge it. Follow the calibration steps outlined below:
    • Step 1: Fully charge the battery.
    • Step 2: Disable Hibernation and Sleep settings in the power options.
    • Step 3: Discharge the battery completely.
    • Step 4: Fully recharge the battery.
    • Step 5: Re-enable Hibernation and Sleep settings.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
