So as it states in the description, my laptop will no longer charge while on but it seems to charge when off as the small light by the charge port comes on after it powers down, Was working fine last night as I spent a fair bit of the day gaming, had an issue with HP system check saying my battery needed to be calibrated but doing so seemed to fail as it would complete but then tell me I needed to calibrate my battery, laptops not even a year old yet so still under warranty. Had a few other small issues with games randomly CTD  and freezing to the point where I had no option but to force-shut down the pc, not sure if this is related but if there's a power problem it may be.

Thanks.

@jscuz Welcome to HP Community!

I understand that you are facing a charging issue.

I suggest you start with a hard reset: Click here for steps,

When done, you may want to check with an alternate power cord/adapter as it could be a malfunction that's causing this issue to occur, here's what you could do:

If the charger shows inconsistent power output values, I would suggest that you step into Best Buy or staples and try with a different adapter and that should isolate the issue to the adapter or the computer.

Please try a different battery on the unit as well.

Do not buy the battery and adapter. It is only for testing.

Use spare ones that they may have. If it works correctly, then you could think of buying it.

Meanwhile, also, try the below:

Steps to uninstall the ACPI drivers

Right-Click on start button> click device manager> Batteries>then select the s drivers and right-click on it and uninstall all battery drivers.

Then restart the computer and check again.

Link for battery testing and calibration

Also, update the BIOS.

hey, thanks for the info the hard reset worked, got power back while its on. But I cannot seem to calibrate the battery, I ran all the tests and the AC passed but the battery keeps cancelling and cannot run a calibration. I did both Hp pc diagnostics and hp support and both test cancelled out and failed to calibrate, Also after playing the game"anthem" for a while, which no longer works properly since this all began, Keeps CTD, I noticed after about 40 mins of play (then CTD) the battery was down to 94%, I do have a cooler pad underneath and exhaust fan on the side of my machine, both running of the USB power, and both at max speed, but again before the power issues, maybe 98%-99%. I'm beginning to think I have a bad battery, The machine has been on AC power most of the time since I got it, just once a week for about 6 months I used the battery to below 50%.

Thanks for your help so far, It's still nice to have a working machine.
