@Marinistis, Welcome to HP Support Community,
Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue
If your OMEN by HP 16.1 inch Gaming Laptop PC is not turning on and only shows a black screen, you can try the following troubleshooting steps:
Power Cycle the Laptop:
- Disconnect all external devices and peripherals.
- Hold the power button for about 30 seconds to ensure the laptop is completely powered down.
- Reconnect the charger and try to turn it on again.
Check the AC Adapter and Battery:
- Ensure that the AC adapter is connected properly and that the power outlet is functioning.
- Try using a different AC adapter if possible to rule out the possibility of a faulty charger.
- If your laptop has a removable battery, try temporarily removing it and using just the AC adapter.
Inspect the DC Jack:
- Ensure that the adapter barrel connector is inserted properly into the DC jack. Incorrect insertion can trigger embedded controller protection, preventing charging or powering on.
Reset the Embedded Controller:
- After powering off, press and hold the power button for more than 10 seconds to try resetting the Embedded Controller (EC).

I hope this helps.
