Would like to upgrade to the gtx 1080 ti. Compatibilty issues? will it fit? the 1060 is 9,82 " long, but the 1080 ti is 10.5" long.

Again, look at the exploded diagram. Every part in the laptop is there. Do you see a video card? Yes the 1060 is absolutely wired into the motherboard as you say. 

 

No HP consumer laptop even Omens has a removeable video card. Only the Mobile Workstation models have that and they look nothing like desktop video cards.

Not gonna happen. The video chip in the laptop is soldered flat onto the motherboard. 

 

Look at page 20 of the Manual here:

No video card in there except a chip on the motherboard. This model comes in Geforce GTX 1060 and 1070 versions. Theoretically you could remove your 1060 motherboard and replace it with a 1070 motherboard but the cost would be too much to make any sense.

The actual model is 17w100nv. Can't believe its not a removable gpu. So the 1060 is wired into the motherboard?
