Thats why you need to match the timings. Dont add a new stick with a higher timing than the other stick already has.
You might experience instabilities. It will also negate the Dual Channel ability.

Thats an expensive route to upgrade from 12 GB to 16 GB if you plan on buying the pair in that Newegg link. It should work fine if adding both.
Otherwise, it would be cheaper to only replace the 4 GB with 8GB. But you want to match the timings of the existing memory first.
You can use a utility like CPUz or Speccy to see what the timings are currently.

i was just wondering about the incress in timings if they would work at these settings and if there would be any kind of noticeable incress .
most likly i plan to just replace the 4gig stick with a 8gig one

ok i didnt word that to well lol sorry . yea i meant i would just buy a stick of 8gig of 18-17-17 2400mhz ram thats whats in it now and replace the 4gig with a 8gig and retane the one 8gig thats in it .

i ended up getting a stick of 8gig G.SKILL ripjaw memory and it worked the timing on the G.SKILL is better then what was in there so it defulted to the samsung stick timings . thanks again
