i have a 17-cd100 CTO and i would like to upgrade my hard drive ie 1 with more space could i add one or purchase a replacement. the ssd that it comes with is way to small.

The question is  machine can have dual storage as the above machine

Which drive is too small and you wish to replace or add ?

Looks like you do not use 1TB. You can direct all your download files to other drive, not C:. Please use the following way to set default files locations:

Still not enough, you can upgrade

1. 512GB SSD to 2TB and
2. 1TB SATA to 2TB too (larger capacity would be to thick for your machine).

im sorry i miss quated this laptop only has a 256gb ssd drive no other hard drives are installed.

You should be able to upgrade to larger drive using same existing brand or

I did say you can have 2 physical drives

• the first one is M.2 SSD (already)
• the second one is 2.5" SATA HDD/SSD

That mean you can add the second drive to your machine, and keep the first drive. The following Guide gives you some idea (pp 1, 2, 33).
