@nick005, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

To limit your battery charging to a specific percentage, such as 80-85%, you typically need to use a third-party application, as this functionality is not natively supported by most operating systems. However, you should check HP's proprietary software like "HP System Event Utility" or "HP Support Assistant" for any built-in battery management features, as some HP models might offer similar settings.

Here are some steps to help you manage your battery charging:

Check for HP Battery Management Software:

  • Open the HP Support Assistant on your laptop, if not installed, you can download it from the HP website.
  • Check for any settings related to battery health or management. Some HP laptops offer a feature to limit the charging threshold.

Use Third-Party Applications:

  • If HP software doesn't provide such an option, you can search for third-party battery management software. Always ensure you download software from reputable sources and verify their compatibility with your HP Victus laptop.

Windows Settings:

  • Windows itself doesn’t provide a native option to set battery charging limits, but some laptops allow Intelligent Charging with battery health management that can be accessed through Windows Power options in some cases.

Performing High-End Tasks While Charging

It's generally acceptable to use your laptop for high-performance tasks like gaming while it is plugged in. Here are some tips to keep in mind:

Cooling: Ensure your laptop has proper ventilation to avoid overheating, as gaming generates significant heat. Use a cooling pad if necessary.

Power Plan Settings: Set your power plan to 'High Performance' to ensure your laptop functions optimally during gaming sessions.

Battery Lifespan: Regularly keeping your laptop plugged in while using it for intense tasks can cause the battery to remain at high charge levels for long periods, potentially reducing its long-term health. Utilizing battery management techniques like charging limits can help mitigate this impact.

I hope this helps.

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Take care and have a good day.
