To better understand the issue, could you please provide a few more details?

 

  • Are you trying to change the entire keyboard backlight color or just specific zones/keys?
  • Do you currently see any backlight at all, or is the lighting not responding?
  • Have you tried using the HP Omen Command Center or HP System Event Utility (depending on your model) to adjust the lighting?

In the meantime, here are a few troubleshooting steps you can try:

  1. Check the Function Keys: On many HP laptops, pressing Fn + F4 (or sometimes Fn + F5/F12) cycles through brightness levels or lighting modes.
  2. HP Omen Command Center: If your model supports RGB customization, open the HP Omen Command Center software. From there, you can adjust colors, zones, and effects.
  3. Update Drivers: Ensure your BIOS and keyboard drivers are up to date via HP Support Assistant. Outdated drivers can sometimes prevent lighting controls from working properly.
  4. Power Reset: Shut down your laptop, disconnect the power adapter, and hold the power button for 15 seconds. Then restart and check if the lighting responds.
