Hi @firebirdashes,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like your Victus by HP 15.6 inch Gaming Laptop is experiencing issues during boot, which could be caused by several factors. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try.
Check for Power Issues
- Battery Check: Ensure the battery is charging properly. Try booting with the power adapter connected to rule out battery issues.
- Power Adapter: If the power adapter is faulty, it may not be supplying enough power to the laptop.
Perform a Hard Reset
- Turn off your laptop.
- Disconnect all external devices (USB drives, external monitors, etc.).
- Press and hold the power button for about 15-20 seconds.
- Reconnect the power supply and try turning the laptop back on.
BIOS/UEFI Update
- Ensure your BIOS/UEFI is up to date. Outdated BIOS can cause boot issues.
- You can check for updates on the HP Support website by searching for your laptop's model.
Test in Safe Mode
- Try booting the laptop in Safe Mode to rule out software conflicts.
- If it boots fine in Safe Mode, the issue may be related to a driver or software.
Check for Software Conflicts
- Startup Programs: Disable unnecessary startup programs that could be causing delays during boot.
- Corrupted OS: Run a Windows System File Checker (SFC) scan to check for corrupted files:
- Open Command Prompt as an administrator and run:
sfc /scannow
- Open Command Prompt as an administrator and run:
Run Diagnostics
- Run HP’s Hardware Diagnostics Tool to check for hardware issues like bad memory or a failing hard drive.
- Restart the laptop and press F2 during startup to enter diagnostics mode.

Check for Overheating
- If your laptop is overheating, it may shut down to prevent damage.
- Clean the cooling fans and ensure proper ventilation. Consider using a cooling pad to prevent overheating.
Check Event Viewer
- Open the Event Viewer to check for errors or warnings related to boot.
- Look for events like Kernel-Power or Critical errors, as these can help pinpoint the issue.
Reinstall/Repair Windows
- If other methods fail, you might need to consider repairing Windows or doing a clean reinstall if the OS is corrupted.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
