My Victus by HP Gaming Laptop 15-fa0000 is facing a serious issue. Whenever I try to open any game, the laptop crashes suddenly and shows a black screen. I have attempted multiple restarts and updated the drivers, but the problem persists. This recurring crash is affecting both my work and entertainment. I request HP Support to look into this matter urgently and provide a permanent solution. Please prioritize this issue as it is causing continuous inconvenience. I expect timely assistance and resolution from the HP team to restore proper functionality of my laptop.

@ADITYA242, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

Perform a full power reset

Shut down the laptop.

Disconnect the charger.

Hold the power button for 15 seconds.

Reconnect the charger and power on.
This clears corrupted power states that often trigger GPU crashes.

Check for overheating or dust blockage

Ensure the vents are not blocked.

Use the laptop on a hard surface.

During gameplay, if the bottom becomes extremely hot, thermal shutdown may occur.
Victus systems will black-screen when the GPU overheats.

Reset the graphics drivers cleanly

Press Windows + Ctrl + Shift + B once — this restarts the GPU driver when the system hangs.

Uninstall current NVIDIA/Intel graphics drivers from Device Manager.

Restart the laptop.

Install fresh HP-provided drivers (links at the end).

Turn off GPU overboost features

Open OMEN Gaming Hub.

Go to Performance Control.

Set to Default or Balanced mode.
Aggressive modes can cause unstable voltage on some Victus units.

Update the BIOS to the latest version

BIOS updates for the fa-series include fixes for:

GPU instability

VRAM power delivery issues

Random black-screen crashes

After updating BIOS, restart the laptop and retest.

Run HP Hardware Diagnostics

Restart the laptop.

Press F2 repeatedly.

Run System Tests → Extensive Test.
If the GPU or memory is failing, the diagnostic will report it.

Check Windows power mode

Open Settings → System → Power.

Set Power Mode to Best Performance.

Turn off Fast Startup in Power Options.
This prevents unstable wake-from-sleep conditions that cause black screens.

I hope this helps.

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Take care and have a good day.

Hi Aditya,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I’m sorry you’re going through this; I understand the concern, and don’t worry, I’ll help you with this.

I have checked on the previous open conversation, As per the previous conversation  kindly confirm if these below steps were followed .

To better understand the issue, could you please provide a few more details?

Could you clarify a few details to narrow down the issue?

  1. What is your exact HP laptop model?
  2. Does the crash happen as soon as the game launches, or after a few minutes of gameplay?
  3. When the screen goes black, does the laptop restart, or does only the game close?
  4. Did the service center update your graphics drivers or BIOS?
  5. Is this happening with PUBG only, or with all games?

In the meantime, here are some steps you can try:

1. Update your graphics drivers

Go to:

  • NVIDIA GeForce Experience
  • AMD Adrenalin Software
  • Intel Graphics Command Center
Make sure the GPU driver is fully updated. Bad or outdated drivers are the most common cause of black-screen crashes.

2. Update Windows

Go to: Settings → Windows Update → Check for updates
PUBG and other games rely on newer system components, so this can help.

3. Force the game to use the dedicated GPU

Go to:
Settings → System → Display → Graphics
Select PUBG → High Performance GPU.
If it’s running on the integrated GPU, it may crash.

4. Check temperature (overheating)

If the laptop overheats, PUBG will crash, and the screen may go black.
Check if the fans get very loud or the laptop becomes very hot while gaming.

I'm glad I could help! 😊 If this resolved your issue, please mark it as "Accepted Solution" and click "Yes" on "Was this reply helpful?" Your feedback not only keeps us going but also helps others find the solution faster!

  • What do you think, I might not have tried, I did all this, still it has crashed more than 100 times. 31186.jpg

I also went to your service centre, nothing happened, they went there and gave me Rs 885 for nothing, nothing was rectified.
