my battery stuck on 2 percent.

That’s frustrating! A battery stuck at 2% could indicate a calibration issue, a faulty battery, or a power management problem. Here are some steps to troubleshoot:

 

1. Perform a Battery Reset

  • Shut down your laptop.
  • Disconnect the charger and hold the power button for 30 seconds.
  • Plug the charger back in and turn on the laptop.
  • Check if the battery percentage updates.

2. Run HP Battery Diagnostics

  • Restart your laptop and press Esc repeatedly.
  • Select F2 > System Tests > Battery Test.
  • If the test shows a failure, the battery may need replacement.

3. Reinstall Battery Drivers

  • Open Device Manager (Win + X > Device Manager).
  • Expand Batteries, right-click Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery, and select Uninstall device.
  • Restart your laptop—Windows will reinstall the driver automatically.

4. Consider Battery Replacement

  • If diagnostics confirm a faulty battery, check your warranty status here.
  • If out of warranty, you can find replacement batteries on HP’s official store or third-party retailers.
