Hi @FatehSandhu92,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I see that you are facing issues with your HP Notebook wherein there is a lag while playing games and FPS drops.

There are several reasons why a laptop's performance may drop significantly, resulting in a decrease in frame rates from 60fps to 5fps. Here are a few potential causes and solutions.

  • Overheating: Overheating can cause a laptop to throttle performance to prevent damage. Ensure that your laptop is not overheating by cleaning any dust or debris from the air vents, using a cooling pad, and avoiding using the laptop on soft surfaces such as a bed or couch. You can also try reducing the graphics settings in the game to reduce the workload on the GPU.
  • Outdated drivers: Outdated drivers can cause compatibility issues and decrease performance. Update your laptop's graphics drivers to the latest version available from the HP website or the manufacturer of your graphics card.
  • Insufficient RAM: Insufficient RAM can cause a laptop to struggle to run demanding applications. Check how much RAM your laptop has and consider upgrading it if it's below 8GB.
  • Malware or virus infection: Malware or viruses can cause a laptop to slow down and decrease performance. Use a reputable antivirus program to scan and remove any malware or viruses.
  • Software conflicts: Sometimes, conflicting software can cause a laptop to slow down or crash. Try uninstalling any recently installed programs or drivers that may be causing conflicts.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
