Hi @7549
Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.
That kind of lag can really throw off your groove—especially on a gaming laptop where responsiveness matters.
Let’s walk through a few steps to help speed up your touchpad and get things feeling smooth again.
🛠️ Steps to Fix a Slow or Laggy Touchpad
1. Update the Touchpad Driver
- Press Windows + X → select Device Manager.
- Expand Mice and other pointing devices.
- Right-click your touchpad → choose Update driver → Search automatically.
- Restart your laptop after updating.
2. Adjust Touchpad Sensitivity
- Go to Settings → Bluetooth & devices → Touchpad.
- Set sensitivity to Medium or High.
- Also check Cursor speed and increase it slightly if needed.
3. Run HP Hardware Diagnostics
- Restart your laptop and press Esc repeatedly during startup.
- Select F2 to open diagnostics.
- Run the Touchpad test to check for hardware issues.
4. Perform a Hard Reset
- Shut down the laptop.
- Unplug the charger and remove any external devices.
- Press and hold the power button for 15 seconds.
- Plug it back in and power on.
5. Install Windows Updates
- Go to Settings → Windows Update → Check for updates.
- Install any pending updates and restart.
6. Reinstall the Touchpad Driver (If Lag Persists)
- In Device Manager, right-click the touchpad → Uninstall device.
- Restart your laptop—Windows will reinstall the driver automatically.
Let me know how it goes—I’ll be right here to help you fine-tune things! 💪🖱️
