Hi@charliie, Welcome to the HP Support Community!
As I understand, your notebook performs slow,
No worries, as I'll be glad to help you, that said, I'll need a few more details to dissect your concern & provide an accurate solution:
When was the last time it worked fine?
Were there any hardware/software changes made?
Does it perform slowly while playing games or even while browsing and working on the computer?
Have you tried any troubleshooting steps?
Let's try these steps to resolve the issue:
Refer to this link: https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c04770630.
Also, try these steps:
Run a system test:
- Press the Power button to turn on the computer and immediately press the F2 key repeatedly, about once every second, until you see HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI.
- From the UEFI main menu, click System Tests, then click Quick Test.
- Click Run once.
- While the test is running, the time remaining and test results for each component are shown on the screen. The test can take up to 15 minutes.
- If no system component failed, please go back to the main menu and Exit from the screen
Update BIOS: Follow steps from the link: https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c00042629
Also, ensure Window updates are installed and completed.
Update the graphics drivers from our website: http://www.hp.com/drivers
Run HP Support Assistant Update:
Use HP Support Assistant to automatically install computer updates, such as updated drivers, system updates, and useful utilities.
-
Click My devices in the top menu, and then click Updates in the My PC or My notebook pane.

-
Click Check for updates and messages to scan for new updates.

-
Review the list of updates. Updates with a yellow information icon are recommended. Updates with a blue information icon are optional.
-
Click the update name for a description, version number, and file size.
-
Select the box next to any updates you want to install, and then click Download and install.
-
Perform any other update management actions as needed.
Keep me posted. Happy to help!
