Hi @Zbadgirls,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be happy to help you!

I understand that you are having issues with the charging.

Was it the Original battery and the power cord you bought?

Where was it purchased from?

Check the Power Source:

  • Ensure the power adapter is plugged in securely to both the laptop and the power outlet.
  • Check the power outlet by plugging in another device to confirm it is working.
  • Try a different power adapter if you have one available that is compatible with your laptop.

Inspect for Physical Damage:

  • Check for any visible damage to the power adapter, power cable, or the laptop itself.
  • Inspect the power port on the laptop for any signs of damage or debris.

Check for Loose Internal Connections:

  • If you are comfortable opening the laptop, check for any loose internal connections, particularly the RAM and storage devices.
  • Ensure all components are securely connected.

Reset the CMOS:

  • If the laptop has a removable CMOS battery, try removing it for a few minutes and then reinserting it. This can sometimes reset any corrupted BIOS settings.

If none of the above steps work, there may be a more serious hardware issue. It could be a problem with the motherboard, power supply, or another internal component.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

Hi, Thank you for your response. The cord i purchased wasn't the correct one but it charges the battery which is the same model as the one that came with it.  The battery will charge while turned off, But I'm testing it today, I turned it on an unplugged the ac cord out of the electrical plug. and it decreases in the charge faster than it should. but i left it unplugged for over an hour an it kept it at 100% until i turned it on and started using it. I have a cord coming today that is the same model number as the one that came with it originally.  I will let you know if that one works any better.
