OMEN by HP Gaming Laptop 16-xf0xxx

Hello guys, I might be way out of my depth , but I'm having issues on my laptop, for which I do not know the cause of initially the problems began recently with the laptop shutting off after attempting to launch elden ring nightreign I checked the cpu cores in btop and all of them go straight to 100 and then the laptop just shuts off the only success full way of turning it back on was to reset CMOS, another thing that is bothering me is that when checking sensors I see:

hp-isa-0000

Adapter: ISA adapter

fan1: 0 RPM

fan2: 0 RPM

pwm1: N/A

acpitz-acpi-0

Adapter: ACPI interface

temp1: +38.0°C

temp2: +20.0°C

temp3: -273.2°C

everything else seems quite normal, if anyone could assist me in finding out what I'm doing wrong that would be great 🙂

EDIT: I am only asking as I cannot find any specifics about the omen 16 on arch wiki (specifically my model),I will also be happy to find information and provide it given that some other users might have the same issue as I do, I have noticed that the general rule is that newer gaming laptops are problematic in some cases , (with exception of ASUS I think) , all in all I will likely be posting until my issue is resolved be it in changing laptops or succeeding on this device.

Hi @STVRM,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding issues on the OMEN by HP Gaming Laptop 16-xf0xxx!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Try these steps:

Update Drivers and BIOS:

  • Make sure all drivers and the BIOS are up to date. You can do this by visiting the HP Support Website and downloading the latest updates for your specific laptop model.

Check for Overheating:

  • High CPU usage can cause overheating. Ensure that the laptop's vents are not blocked and clean out any dust that might be clogging the cooling system.
  • You can use software tools like HWMonitor to check the temperatures of your CPU and GPU.

Perform a System Check:

  • Use HP Support Assistant to run diagnostics on your system. This tool can help identify any hardware or software issues.
  • HP Support Assistant can be downloaded from the HP Support Website.

Adjust Power Settings:

  • Sometimes, adjusting power settings can help reduce the load on your CPU. Ensure your power plan is set to 'Balanced' or 'Power Saver' rather than 'High Performance' when not gaming.

Check for Malware:

  • Perform a full system scan using reliable antivirus software to ensure that no malware is causing the CPU to spike.

Game Settings Adjustment:

  • Lower the settings for Elden Ring Nightreign to reduce the strain on your CPU. Sometimes games can default to the highest settings, causing excessive load.

Reset CMOS:

  • You've already reset the CMOS, which can help stabilize the system in some cases. Ensure you follow the proper procedure for your specific laptop model to avoid further issues.

I hope this helps.
