omen laptop
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Normally the laptop will bootup in 30 seconds but randomly the laptop will take in excess of 10 minutes to bootup. No error messages. I have sent it back to HP for repair three time. still fails. Reloaded the OS 4 times , once by HP, once by Microsoft and twice by myself. No Virus per Norton 360, passes all hardware tests. passes both the system file check and DISM check.

Anyone else having this problem?

@randyroger

Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.

  • Have you made any hardware/software changes?
  • Did this happen after a recent window or software update?
  • What is the product number of your device? Use this link to find it: http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03754824

(Ensure you do not share any of your personal information such as serial, phone number, email ID, etc...).

While you respond to that, let's try these steps:

Firstly, run Hard Reset: Follow steps from the link: https://hp.care/2GnkMa8 (if the computer doesn't start up/power on you can skip the next step)

Next step, BIOS default:

  1. Turn off the computer and wait five seconds.
  2. Press the Power button to start the computer and repeatedly press the F10 key to enter the BIOS setup menu.
  3. On the BIOS Setup screen, press F9 to select and load the BIOS Setup Default settings.
  4. Press F10 to Save and Exit.
  5. Use the arrow keys to select Yes, then press Enter when asked Exit Saving Changes?
  6. Follow the prompts to restart your computer.

Next, run HP PC Hardware diagnostic tests to determine if the computer hardware is functioning properly. The tool runs within the Windows operating system in order to diagnose hardware failures: https://support.hp.com/in-en/topic/diagnostics

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

Thanks for the reply. The product number is 2XP12AV.

No software changes, no hardware changes beyond the addition of a seagate USB external hard drive. The problem started right out of the box. I added the hard drive after the second time I sent it back for repair.

I'll try the Bios next and post the results. It may be weeks before I will know if it helped (its an intermittent problem.)
