Victus by HP 15.6 inch Gaming Laptop 15-fa1000 (9P833AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

My laptop, an HP Victus 15 with an Intel Core i5 13th Gen H-series processor and an RTX 4050 6GB GPU, is taking a surprisingly long time to open apps and games—even though I just bought it two days ago. Given its powerful hardware, I expected smooth and fast performance, especially for gaming and multitasking. However, the sluggish response has been disappointing and unexpected for a brand-new device. I’m unsure if it’s a software issue, background processes, or something else causing the delay, but it’s definitely not what I anticipated from a high-performance laptop like this.

Hello,

Brand new laptops often run a bunch of background Windows updates, driver installs, and app updates right after setup. This can slow things down significantly.       Target Pay and Benefits

Check:

Go to Settings > Windows Update and make sure all updates are complete.

Also check for optional driver updates (especially GPU drivers) in Device Manager or HP Support Assistant.

2. Background Processes
Sometimes bloatware or pre-installed software from HP can consume resources.

Check:

Open Task Manager (Ctrl+Shift+Esc) and look under the Processes tab. Sort by CPU, Memory, and Disk usage.

Identify any unusual apps or processes hogging resources.

Disable or uninstall unnecessary bloatware.

3. Storage Health & Performance
If your laptop has a slower SSD or it’s being heavily used by background tasks, app launch times will suffer.

Check:

In Task Manager, check Disk usage. If it’s at or near 100% consistently, something is slowing down disk performance.

Run a quick health check on the SSD using tools like CrystalDiskInfo (free) to ensure the drive is healthy.

Best Regards
