@Fab74, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP Gaming Laptop's integrated webcam blinks once and then turns off, it usually indicates that another application might be accessing the camera or that there's a driver or privacy setting issue. Here's a step-by-step guide to troubleshoot this:

Check for App Conflicts

  1. Close all apps that might use the webcam (e.g., Zoom, Teams, Skype, Discord).
  2. Open Task Manager (Ctrl + Shift + Esc) → Look for any background apps using the camera and end those tasks.

Check Camera Privacy Settings

  1. Go to SettingsPrivacy & SecurityCamera.
  2. Ensure Camera access is turned On.
  3. Make sure “Let apps access your camera” is enabled.
  4. Scroll down and ensure the app you're trying to use (e.g., Camera app) has permission.

Reinstall or Update Webcam Driver

  1. Press Win + X → Device Manager.
  2. Expand Cameras or Imaging Devices.
  3. Right-click your webcam → Select Uninstall device.
  4. Restart your laptop. Windows should reinstall the driver automatically.
  5. Alternatively, right-click the webcam → Update driverSearch automatically.

Test Webcam in Safe Mode

Boot into Safe Mode with Networking and test the webcam using the Camera app. If it works there, a third-party app or service is likely interfering.

Use HP Support Assistant

  1. Open HP Support Assistant (pre-installed on most HP laptops). If not, download it here - HP Support Assistant | HP® Support
  2. Go to Troubleshooting and FixesCamera.
  3. Run the diagnostic tool to detect and fix issues.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
