HP Omen - 17-an012dx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

A few months ago, the 'a' key on my Omen's keyboard stopped working.  It seems to be a hardware issue since for a period of time the key would work sometimes when pressed but not every time.  Currently it doesn't work at all when pressed so I have to paste in the letter 'a' any time that I need to type it.  This is also particularly troublesome for many games for fairly obvious reasons...

I have verified that it is they keyboard by plugging in an external keyboard and using it's 'a' key on the external keyboard without issue.

What I want to know is if anyone else has experienced this and what can/should be done?

Some possibly unrelated notes:
* I noticed that the temperature (I used HWMonitor to observe this) of my computer coincided with the key not working when it was intermittently working in that when I first booted it up, it worked fine.  Once I had a game running on it for 15 minutes or more it would then start to go out and stop completely until I turned off the game and let the laptop idle.
* Before this started to happen, while playing games I found that my ring finger on my left hand got really hot feeling when resting on wasd, (so on the 'a' key)  I thought nothing of it until I started to notice the shorting out behavior of the key not working.
* Nothing has ever spilled on the laptop to my knowledge and I have no children who have any level of access to the laptop.  We do have two cats, and my wife has her own computers/laptops so not being told of a spill is unlikely
* The warranty somehow started ticking on Oct 13th 2017 when I didn't buy the laptop until Jan 6th 2018 from Best Buy (ordered new from in the store, shipped to my house), so it's out of warranty according to HP's online warranty status checker.
