@kely784rey, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

If your laptop screen is unresponsive and constantly freezing, several factors could be causing this issue. Below are some troubleshooting steps you can follow to diagnose and resolve the problem:

Reboot Your Laptop:

  • Press and hold the power button until the laptop shuts down.
  • Wait for a few seconds and then power it back on.
  • Check if the issue persists after rebooting.

Check for Software Issues:

  • Update System Software: Ensure your operating system (Windows/macOS) and drivers are up-to-date. You can check for updates in your system settings.
  • Run Antivirus Scan: Perform a full antivirus scan to check for malware or viruses that may be causing the issue.
  • Close Unnecessary Applications: Use Task Manager (Ctrl+Shift+Esc on Windows) to close any unnecessary applications that might be consuming system resources.

Check for Hardware Issues:

  • Temperature and Ventilation: Ensure your laptop is not overheating. Clean the vents and make sure they are not blocked.
  • Inspect Hardware: Check for any visible damage to the screen or other hardware components.

Run Diagnostics:

  • HP Diagnostics: Use built-in HP diagnostics to scan for hardware issues. You can access HP diagnostics by restarting your laptop and pressing the appropriate function key (e.g., F2) during boot-up.
  • Run a system test to check for any hardware errors.

Check for display driver issues:

  • Update Display Driver: Press Win+X, select Device Manager, expand Display adapters, right-click your display adapter, and choose Update driver. Follow the on-screen instructions to update the driver.

Perform a system restore:

  • Windows: If the issue started recently, use System Restore to revert your laptop back to a previous state when it was working correctly.
  • Go to Control Panel > Recovery > Open System Restore and follow the prompts to select a restore point.

Reinstall the operating system.

  • As a last resort, you can reinstall the operating system to fix the issue. Make sure to back up your data before doing this.
