Hi @Tate1220, Welcome to HP Support Community!
We noticed that this thread hasn't had any updates in a while since your original post; while this is rare, we didn't want this post to remain unanswered, so, here's the solution to your query. We hope it helps you and everyone viewing this post 😊
You're absolutely right to explore customizing the macro keys (P1–P6) on your OMEN 17t-cb100. These keys are designed for flexibility, and you can indeed reassign them to function as standard keys or custom shortcuts. Here's how to do it:
Option 1: Use OMEN Gaming Hub to Reassign Macro Keys
-
Install or Open OMEN Gaming Hub:
- If not already installed, download it from the Microsoft Store.
- Launch the app and sign in with your HP account.
-
Navigate to the “Macro Keys” Section:
- On the left panel, select “OMEN Laptop” or your device name.
- Click on “Macro Keys” (P1–P6).
-
Assign a Function or Key:
- Click on a macro key (e.g., P1).
- Choose “Keystroke” or “Shortcut”.
- Enter the key or combination you want it to mimic (e.g., Enter, Ctrl+C, etc.).
- Save the configuration.
📌 Note: You can also assign app launches, multi-key macros, or even disable the macro key if not needed.

Option 2: Use Microsoft PowerToys to Remap Keys (Advanced)
If you want the macro keys to behave like standard keys system-wide (e.g., P1 = “Home” key), you can use Microsoft PowerToys with the Keyboard Manager:
- Install PowerToys from the Microsoft Store.
- Open PowerToys > Go to Keyboard Manager.
- Enable Keyboard Manager.
- Click “Remap a key” > Add a new remap.
- In the “Physical Key” column, press the macro key (e.g., P1).
- In the “Mapped To” column, choose the standard key you want (e.g., “Home”).
- Click OK and apply.
Troubleshooting Tips
- Ensure OMEN Gaming Hub is up to date.
- If the macro keys aren’t detected in PowerToys, they may not register as standard keys. In that case, OMEN Gaming Hub is the preferred method.
