Hi:

HP starts the warranty clock ticking the minute the PC leaves the assembly plant, so the longer the PC sits unsold somewhere, the less time remains on the warranty.

HP has a process for you to get the warranty start date corrected to the date you purchased the notebook.

There are two ways to do that:

1. Submit an online warranty dispute form.

HP PCs, printers - Dispute a warranty status | HP® Customer Support

2. Contact HP support and submit a warranty dispute.

Contact HP | HP® Official Site
