I have connected my printer wirelessly to our network. I am able to print on my laptop and phone no problem (wirelessly of course). My desktop is connected to my router via Ethernet cord and can indeed detect the printer. Whenever I attempt to print something however, it does not go through and only tells me that there was an error printing and that is it. How can I print from my desktop to my printer?

Use HP Print and Scan Doctor to check connectivity

Download HP Print and Scan Doctor.

  1. Run HPPSdr.exe from the download location on your computer.

  2. Once HP Print and Scan Doctor opens, click Start, and then select your printer.

    • If your printer in not in the list, turn it off and on, and then click Retry.

    • If there is a connection problem, follow the instructions in HP Print and Scan Doctor.

  3. If a screen prompts you to turn on printer updates, click Yes.

  4. If a screen prompts you to make your printer the default printer, click Yes.

  5. Try to print.

This did not fix the issue. It was able to print an internal test page but not a test page I sent it. I tried printing a page from a word document and it still did not print. HP Print and Scan Doctor said it was a software error and when it had me uninstall the software, it still did not print. I still cannot print to the wireless printer through my wired desktop.

Printer might not support both Wireless and Wired connection at a time.

Try to connect the desktop to the Wirelessly to the printer using a wireless adapter and check if that works.
