I would like to eliminate the Wi-fi signal that comes from my printer. Even after turning the Wireless setting to Off, I still have a signal (as seen by my iphone) whenever the Printer is on. How can I disable wi-fi from my printer?

Welcome to HP support community.

Update the printer firmware

Refer this HP document for the steps to update the printer firmware:- Click here

Turn off the wireless capability of the printer

Touch (Wireless) from the printer control panel, and then touch Settings.

Touch Wireless Settings.

Slide the button to turn off the printer wireless capability.

I hope that helps.

Thank you Sandy, this did not work. Do you have any other ideas? Thank you!

Once you turn OFF the Wireless feature on the printer, the printer will not be in discoverable mode. Make sure the wireless is turned off on the printer. You may also check the blue wireless light, it should be turned off.

Have you tried to refresh your wireless scan history on your iPhone?

If this does not help, try restoring the network defaults and then turning off the Wireless feature on the printer.

On the printer screen, go to Setup > Network > Restore network defaults.

Go back to network menu > Wireless settings > Wireless > off

Keep me posted.

Hi Kumar - This still did not work. Can you try this on a similar printer where you are so you can possibly see what I am talking about. I refreshed the network settings, the blue light came back on. I turned Wireless back off. It says it's OFF, the blue light turned off, but when I refresh the Wi-Fi on my iphone I see it is still emitting a wi-fi signal (also verified by an EMF reader). The only difference after resetting is that there is no "Lock" icon next to the" HP-Office-Jet-8620..." on the iphone's available wi-fi list.

Perhaps this is a printer system glitch and could be corrected with a firmware update if you escalate the issue? Thank you.

This might require one on one interaction to fix this issue.

I request you to talk to HP support.

They might have multiple options to help you with this.

  1. Click on this link - https://support.hp.com/us-en/contact-hp?openCLC=true
  2. Select the country.
  3. Enter the serial of your device.
  4. Select the country from the drop-down.
  5. Click on "Show Options".
  6. Fill the web-form. A case number and phone number will now populate for you.

Cheers.

Hi Sandy, I followed these steps. It only gives me the option to Ask the HP Community, I do not see any option for a web form. Is it because the 'Manufacturer warranty has expired'? Thanks again!

I have brought your issue to the attention of an appropriate team within HP. They will likely request information from you in order to look up your case details or product serial number. Please look for a private message from an identified HP contact. Additionally, keep in mind not to publicly post personal information (serial numbers and case details).

If you are unfamiliar with how the Community's private message capability works, you can learn about that here.

Thank you for visiting the HP Support Community.
