I only have an iPhone 8+ and no other internet connection, no cable WiFi, can I print from my phone to the office jet pro 6978?

Welcome to the HP Support Community. I'd be happy to assist you with the connectivity issue.

 

You can print using the Wi-Fi Direct. With Wi-Fi Direct, you can print wirelessly from a computer, smart phone, tablet, or other wireless-capable device—without connecting to an existing wireless network.

 

Please refer to page# 94 from the User Manual for steps.
