OfficeJet 3831
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi,

I just bought a new HP OfficeJet 3831 and despite the fact that a 3 months trial period of Instant Ink is "included", there is still no trial activated to my account.

I opened an HP account and added my credit card and everything, but it is functioning normally (I chose the free plan) as if there is no trial.

How can I activate the trial period? There is no tutorial included at all (except the generic instruction of it being automatically activated after registering, which didn't happen).

Best regards.

My understanding is that the "trial" does not show up until you pick and lock in (select) a plan.

You do not have to take my word - in fact, you can (and should) talk to Support and find out for sure.

No Joy?

You want to talk to Instant Ink Support in your region.

Support staff can answer questions, help you select a plan, make sure you get the "trial" (for any except the "free" plan as previously explained).

Our community forum is not Instant Ink Support (or HP Technical Support).  We can advise -- we cannot and do not have access to the plans, to your account, or to the actual Service.

My apologies for not making that clear the first time.

You are correct -- the Free Plan does not include a "free trial".

You may not need "free trial" -- Instant Ink is a subscription "print-by-page" service.

Ink is included with any plan (including "free"), at no extra charge and you are not charged for the amount of ink used.

"Free Plan" has other restrictions, as well.

You can read the details in your Terms of Service contract.

  • With the exception of “Instant Ink Ready” cartridges that come in the box with some new printers (and are marked as “Instant Ink Ready”), you do not own any of the Instant Ink Cartridges.

I'm sorry but I think you're missing my point.

What I meant is that my printer is supposed to include a 3 months trial period of Instant Ink, regarldess of which plan I choose and there is no tutorial on how to do this.

Is there a possibility to activate it for me?

Thanks in advance.
