When using the HP ePrint software on Windows 7 Pro x64, I receive the error "Printer Validation Failed" when wirelessly printing to a pre-configured HP Laserjet p1102w printer. The error occurs after selecting the "HP ePrint" printer & clicking print, then clicking on the found wireless printer on the ePrint window. I am able to use the ePrint app for Android & iOS to successfully print to the same printer. I plan to use this printer for wireless printing from multiple conference rooms on different floors, so a USB conection is not an option. Does anyone know how to fix this so I no longer receive this error from the Windows ePrint software?

Also, the printer has the latest firmware version 20130213. And I tried removing the printer's password, but it still produced the error.

I understand now. The ePrint driver works best if you need multiple computers to access a printer on a different network by turning on ePrint in the printer's embedded web server, printing an information page with a printer code (claim code), and finish setting it up at www.hpconnected.com.  Otherwise, you will need to install the Full Feature Software and Drivers (link is for Windows 7 64-bit US version) on every computer and ensure each device is on the same network as the printer.

I have included a link here with more information on how to setup ePrint.  Respectively, it seems you do not want to use the ePrint feature and therefor you will continue to have problems using the ePrint driver intended for that specific purpose.  If you have any more questions I am happy to help.

Perhaps it is giving you the error because it may be trying to connect normally.  When you select to print using the ePrint driver, a second window appears.  If the printer has a cloud above it, then it has recently been used after printing with its eprint email address.  When you click "Connected" on the left-hand side, network-connected printers will generate in the middle section.  In order to send to the printer using its email address, enter its email above where the search bar is and then select print to add it to the previously used list.

Is this what you are doing to print?

No, there's no email address involved, the printer has its web services turned off (Andoid/Apple devices are able to print to it like this). When the ePrint application starts, I select my printer from the "Connected" tab. A waiting circle then appears over the preview, followed by the error "Printer Validation Failed".

Thank you. To clarify, the reason I don't want to use the web server is that I do not want visiting client's to be able to wirelessly print from anywhere to the printer when its turned on, only when they are in our office & connected to our wireless network. Also, it's much faster to type in the printer's IP address into the ePrint app than the longer printer email address.

I was certain you had a good reason and, yes, you are correct that there are no limitations to when someone can print using the ePrint email address when it comes to a specified location.  I am more than happy to help and just for final confirmation, you would find it faster to print using the Full Feature Software than using the ePrint driver that has to open a second window with less options to print.  Thank you for coming back to this thread to let me know. 🙂

This completely solved my problem. Thank you so much! ePrint was automatically pulling up my printer and when I would select it, it would said 'Printer Validation Failed'. However when I typed in my ePrint email address into the bar as suggested another printer icon with the cloud about it appeared and instantly connected and printed my document. Thanks again!
