- Accidentally threw away black ink cartridge

Hi,
I ran out of ink with HP Instant Ink. When the ink ran out, there was no new cartridge sent to me to replace the empty one with. So I bought a non HP Instant Ink cartridge at my local bookstore to be able to print during the time I was waiting for the new cartridge arrive. This never happened because I discovered that my printer was not able to connect to the internet for a few days and wasn't able to update the ink status.
The problem that I have is that I threw away the old cartridge and I am not able to get a new cartridge for the HP Instant Ink service because the software is saying that there is a non Instant Ink cartridge installed.
Could someone help me with this problem?
