I received a message on 9/8/23 saying that if I did not update my billing information by 10/25/23, my account MAY be suspended and I would no longer be able to print anything. So, WHY does my intern come in on 9/11/23 and send me a screenshot from the printer saying that "printing has been disabled" and I need to "check my HP account?" Then, when I checked my HP account, my notifications showed that my account was suspended on 9/9/23, the VERY NEXT DAY AFTER I was told I had until 10/25/23?!?!
I am starting to believe that this Instant Ink crap is a waste of time and money. I cannot get my cartridges on time. I pay for THREE separate printers to have instant ink. And the claim that the Instant Ink lasts longer than retail cartridges is BULL!!! Once again, I ran out of ink, and had no replacement, but was under a time crunch to finish a project; so, I bought a Black XL cartridge from Amazon - got it delivered OVERNIGHT for $25.89 - only to get multiple messages from Instant Ink saying not to use that one because you wouldn't know when to send me a new cartridge BUT... you would STILL be counting pages printed!!!! So, now, I am paying for Instant Ink that I DO NOT HAVE AND the pages I am printing off MY OWN DIME?!?!
I can go on Amazon RIGHT NOW at 1:39 PM EST and get both an HP, not off-brand, but HP 67XL Black High-yield AND an HP 67XL Tri-color High-yield cartridge for $25.89 and $26.89, respectively; AND I will have them BOTH here by 10:00 PM EST!!!
So, let's break this down using my smallest printer with a 500-page plan:
- I pay $18.99/mo + tax = $20.13/mo x 12 = $241.56 and I get REGULAR 67 cartridges.
- If I bought 2 XL cartridges every quarter, I would spend $52.78 + tax = $55.95 x 4 = $223.80 annually
- If I bought one XL combo pack every quarter, I would spend $40.89 + tax = $43.34 x 4 = $173.36 annually
- If I bought a REGULAR combo pack every other month, I would spend $31.89 + tx = $33.80 x 6 = $202.80
- If I bought a REGULAR combo pack EVERY MONTH, I would spend $31.89 + tax = $33.80 x 12 = $405.60
So.... I really only save MONEY if I had to buy ink EVERY MONTH; yet I don't receive Instant ink EVERY MONTH - not even EVERY OTHER MONTH, truth be told. Plus, I have the hassle, quite often, of running out of ink before I get any more in the mail AND spending all day to figure out how to get in touch with someone to tell me that ink cannot be expedited. When I could just order high-yield cartridges from Amazon, or even set them up as a subscription to come every 3 months, spend less money, print all the pages I want, AND have only rare hassles versus chronic issues with HP. Is that correct?
Then, I've answered my own hypothesis.
