I've had some puzzling messages from the HP Instant Ink this week.

Following on from a message informing me that a replacement ink cartridge was being sent, but not specifying which one, I've now had another email from HP Instant Ink telling me to wait until the ink cartridges are depleted, despite the replacements having yet to arrive and no low ink warning having been given, which was the following;

*****************************************

<Name>, did you know your Instant Ink shipments usually arrive well before you need to replace the ones in your printer?

It pays to replace your cartridges at the right time!

Next time, wait for the “Very Low on Ink” message before replacing your ink cartridge.

You can check your ink levels through your printer panel or the HP Smart app and you can keep printing past the “Very Low on Ink” message until print quality declines.

Be sure to confirm which specific cartridge is ready for replacement and

only replace the cartridge indicated.

Why it pays to wait for the “Very Low on Ink” message:

  • Minimizes ink waste
  • Saves you time by changing cartridges less frequently
  • Helps Instant Ink keep costs low for you

**********************************************************

Does this mean that my printer has erroneously sent a message to HP Instant Ink that I've replaced one of the ink cartridges when I haven't as I obviously haven't got any replacements to do that?

I haven't as yet had any message from the printer that any of the cartridges are low on ink.
