Hi @farrahhhh,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like your laptop keyboard might have some keys stuck or there could be a software issue causing this behavior. Here are some steps you can try to troubleshoot and fix the problem.

  • Check for Physical Damage: Make sure there's no debris or physical damage around the keys causing them to stick. You can gently clean the affected keys with compressed air or a soft brush.
  • Restart Your Laptop: Sometimes a simple restart can resolve temporary software glitches. Restart your laptop and see if the issue persists.
  • Update Keyboard Drivers: Go to Device Manager (you can search for it in the Windows search bar), expand the "Keyboards" section, right-click on your keyboard device, and select "Update driver." Follow the on-screen instructions to update the driver.
  • Uninstall and Reinstall Keyboard Drivers: If updating the drivers didn't help, you can try uninstalling the keyboard drivers and then restarting your laptop. Windows will automatically reinstall the drivers.
  • Check for Software Updates: Ensure your operating system and any keyboard-related software are up to date. Install any available updates and see if that resolves the issue.
  • Use an External Keyboard: If the problem persists and you need to use your laptop urgently, you can connect an external keyboard to your laptop and use it as a temporary solution.
  • Check Keyboard Settings: Sometimes, keyboard settings can cause unexpected behavior. Go to Settings > Devices > Typing and make sure the keyboard settings are configured correctly.
  • Perform a System Restore: If the issue started recently, you can try restoring your system to a previous point when the keyboard was working fine. Search for "System Restore" in the Windows search bar to access this feature.

By following these steps, you should be able to troubleshoot and fix the issue with your HP laptop keyboard.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
