Black Cartridge Problem

I haven't printed on my printer for a little while and recently decided to print some photos.  I changed the colour cartridge as it was needed and the printer was fine.


Halfway through printing a photo, the printer produced an error with the black cartridge and now won't print.  It says that I need to "remove and reinstall the indicated cartridge, making sure it is correctly installed.  If this message continues to appear, replace the indicated cartridge".  I can't replace the cartridge because I haven't been delivered one (I don't think it was anywhere near empty) and I have followed all of the guidance online - taking it out and putting it back in, unpluging from power and plugging back in, and cleaning the contacts in the printer.


What do I do now???
