Black ink isn't showing up when I print a page. But after I clean the printhead twice it works. Why?

The first time I try to print something the black ink does not show up. Then I have to clean the printhead, but at first, it still doesn't work. The second or third time after I clean the printhead, the black ink starts showing up properly on the page. I have to do this every day when I try to print something. Why is this and how can I fix this problem?

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Are you able to copy in black?

  1. Load plain white paper in the input tray.

  2. From the printer control panel, open the Setup  menu.

  3. Open the Reports or Tools menu.

  4. Touch Print Quality Report.

Let me know if you see any black on this report.

Align the Printer:

  1. Load plain white paper in the input tray.

  2. From the printer control panel, open the Setup  menu.

  3. Open the Printer Maintenance or Tools menu.

  4. Touch Align Printhead.

If you have a spare black ink cartridge, please try that. Also, if the issue persists, please perform the remaining steps from this document: https://support.hp.com/in-en/product/hp-officejet-pro-6960-all-in-one-printer-series/8289579/documen...

Let me know if this helps.
