Hello!

I just received my first pack of insta ink this weekend. I replaced the colored ink cartridge and aligned the printer and it worked perfectly fine. Then the black ran out so I replaced that with the insta ink cartridge. The black insta ink cartridge won't align. It only prints color and the black won't show up. I am very frustrated because the virtual tool isn't helpful and every step that I follow  on the troubleshooting documents doesn't fix it. I have tried to clean the smears, clean the cartridges, reset the print, change the paper, and take out the cartridges.

Please, I need help!

Hi! @Sarabara307

Please share the model name of the printer to assist you better.

Try the steps recommended below.

Align the printer

Aligning the ink cartridges correctly aligns the printhead with the printer. Align the printer from the printer control panel, then evaluate the results.
Make sure to load the input tray with plain, white paper.
On the printer control panel, swipe the display to the left, and then touch Setup.
Touch Tools.
Swipe up on the display, then touch Align Printer.
An alignment page prints.
Wait for the alignment page to fully eject from the printer.
NOTE: Before a print job, the printer automatically extends the output tray extender. Do not push in the output tray extender until the print job is complete.
Lift the scanner lid.
Place the alignment page with the print side down on the scanner glass. Position it according to the engraved guides around the glass.
Close the scanner lid, then touch OK
The printer aligns the ink cartridges.
Try to print again.

Try printing a print quality test page and check if the issue persists.

Check the ink levels on your printer and replace the low, empty or faulty ink cartridges.

Clean the electrical contacts on the ink cartridges.

Make sure the ink cartridges are inserted correctly

Hello! The black ink started working again! yay! Now the letters look like they are bleeding into the page when something prints. Any idea on how to fix that?

Thanks for your help!

@Sarabara307,

Thanks for the update, Try the steps recommended below and check if it helps.

Clean the ink cartridges

Use the printer control panel to clean the ink cartridges, and then evaluate the results.

NOTE:

To avoid issues that require cleaning, always turn the printer off with the Power button.

  1. Load plain paper into the input tray.

  2. On the printer control panel, swipe the display to the left, and then touch Setup.

  3. Touch Tools, and then touch Clean Cartridges.

  4. The printer performs the automated cleaning process and then prints a Print Quality Diagnostic page.

    • If the print quality is acceptable, you can stop troubleshooting.

    • If the print quality is unacceptable, touch OK for a Second-level Cleaning when prompted to continue the next level of cleaning.

      NOTE:

If the ink cartridge nozzles are badly clogged, it might require another cleaning cycle. If so, wait 30 minutes before you perform both levels of cleaning again.

Try to print.
