Brand new color ink cartridge does not register with my printer

HP Recommended
HP Office Jet 4650
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Color and Black cartridge was empty. Replaced both with new HP  cartridges that I just bought from Walmart.  The Black worked but the Color printed one time then did not work. Printer now displays "Cartridge Problem" with the brand new color cartridge. Despite re-inserting cartridge multiple times and restarting printer - no change. Checked printer firmware and it is up to date. I've tried every trouble shoot issue HP has to offer but nothing worked. The color cartridge that does not work cost me 42$ and I'm not about to buy a new cartridge without something from HP. Walmart would not take the cartridge back. What now?

I understand the color ink cartridge is not working. I appreciate your efforts in trying to resolve this issue by performing the necessary troubleshooting steps. Check if you are using HP ink cartridges.

Make sure you have tried the steps mentioned in this document - HP Printer Does not Print and Error Indicates Faulty Ink Cartridge


If the error persists, please reach out to the HP Technical Support team in your region regarding the replacement options for the defective ink cartridge. 

You may create a case on the website to obtain a case number if required. Kindly watch this video to know how.
