I decide to cancel my Instant Ink subscription and return to retail ink -- I print very few pages and the plan isn't for me. Can I continue to use the setup cartridges (marked both "setup" and "instant ink") that came with my printer, or should I have a set of new cartridges ready now?

Setup ink is used for initializing the printer and cannot be re-used once taken out. You'll need a new set of cartridges for the printer to work after canceling the Instant Ink Subscription.

I'm afraid, you'd not be able to. You'll need to replace the Instant Ink cartridges with the regular ones.
