My experience was that while I had adequate ink in the HP OfficeJet Pro 8020e PLUS a spare set of cartridges. when I asked to cancel the Instant Ink subscription, HP invaded my home and disabled the printer, which has now sat idle for a month. I have reported this to the Australian Competition & Consumer Commission.

Hi @teejayalso,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
I'd like to help!
Once you cancel your HP instant ink account, you cannot use instant ink cartridges.
And here's what you need to know & do:
If you have an instant ink cartridge on your printer, remove it and discard that, you can only use regular cartridges on your printer once you cancel the program.
That said, if you have trouble using regular cartridges, I recommend you turn off the web service using the steps from this link: https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c04808536
when done successfully, check if it works fine.
Also, check if there are any dues pending
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

HP OfficeJet Pro 8020e - What you suggest is that I comply with a CRIMINAL ACT committed by HP.- They invaded my home (electronically) and made my printer AND the ink I innocently subscribed to at a cost, DEFUNCT, MUTE, and USELESS. The printer displays :- "A problem has occurred . . . and you will be unable to print until the issue is resolved." (So, since THEY caused the problem, when can I expect the "issue" will be resolved? What arrogant blackmail. No doubt customers suffer this ransom world-wide. HP company Directors should be languishing IN PRISON!
