Good morning!
Cartridges not communicating correctly with printer. I have completed all the Virtual Chat troubleshooting solutions (multiple times over) and even replaced the cartridges with newer HP Instant Ink cartridges. Problem resolved itself after I replaced the cartridges, but now it's back again. I'm quite frustrated with the situation and wondered if it was my subscription to HP Instant Ink that is the root of the issue or the HP Printer itself. If it would resolve the matter entirely, I'm happy to purchase a new printer, but I need it to be reliable.
New HP Printer?
Cancel HP Instant Ink subscription?
I appreciate your feedback!!!

Hi @KHKN,
Welcome to the HP Support Community
I understand you are facing a Cartridge not communicating correctly with the printer issue with your HP ENVY Inspire 7958e All-In-One Printer. Not to worry I will help you to get a resolution to resolve the issue.
Let's perform a power drain:
- With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer and also unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
- Remove the USB cable, if present.
- Wait for 2-3 minutes, press and hold the power button on your printer for about 30 seconds to remove any additional charge.
- Now plug back the power cable straight to a wall outlet without any surge protector or an extension cord (This is important) and then plug back the power cord to the printer.
- Turn on the printer and wait till the warm-up period finishes and the printer is idle
Try the below suggestions-
1)Uninstall HP Smart
2)Install all the available Windows updates
If it is been a while since you updated your Windows, that is the main reason why Windows says your HP printer driver is unavailable. Here are the steps on how to do a Windows Update to install all accessible operating system updates.
If you are accessing Windows 10, then these steps are for you.
- Hit the Start menu and write an update. After that, click on the “Check for updates” option.
- Tap on the “Check for updates” option.
- After clicking on that option, Windows will install the updates automatically.
- When Windows completes all its updates, start your computer again and attempt to print a file to check if your printer works.
3) Update the printer firmware
- Click here to download and install the latest printer firmware from your product
- Click here to know different methods of updating the printer firmware.
4) Reinstall HP Smart from the Windows store
click here and HP printer setup (HP Smart app)
Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
