HP Envy Photo 7830
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Every time I sign in to Instant Ink to check the number of pages I have printed, I am told ‘Cannot connect to printer now. Try again later’. But the Instant Ink page says ‘Online'. When I click on HP Smart that page says ‘Ready’ and shows ink levels that seem correct. Actual printing works fine.

After everything had worked for about a year the problem started a month ago. On a single occasion about ten days ago the number of pages updated but otherwise it hasn’t done so whether I use wireless or a USB connection. (The single ethernet port on my PC is used for a Powerline adapter to connect to my router.) I  have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the HP software without success. Can anyone suggest how I can get back to when things were working properly?

Hi @Kingsley6

Welcome to the HP Support Community. I'd be happy to assist you.

Make sure the printer is connected to the internet. If not, you may not be able to print or pages won't be counted.

Restart the router and the printer. The printer should be connected to the router to access the internet.

Perform the steps mentioned in this document.

To know how to check your page count, kindly refer to this document.

If the issue persists, please send us a private message with your Instant Ink account details or you may also respond to the private message I've sent out and I'll help you out, accordingly. Check next to your profile name, you should see a little blue envelope, please click on it.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
