Cost of inkplan increased without any prior notification from HP

I signed up to 300 pages plan at £7.99 per month.  I have just opened my account statement to see that the monthly charge has been increased to £9.99 without prior notice from HPInstant Ink. Is this legal? If you enter into a contract at a stated price,  surely you should be given notice of any change before it takes place?
