We picked up a used printer from a Freebie site. We've realized that it will not print because the Instant Ink cartridges are connected to the previous owner's account which is probably cancelled. If we create an account of our own and purchase a plan, will we then be able to use our printer?
I've also seen "3 months for $0.99". Is that for new printers or new Instant Ink accounts?
Any information is greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the HP Support Community.
I understand that you want to enroll in the instant ink program. I'd like to help!
You may go through the document here for more details. Click here

However, if you wish to use regular cartridges (HP Genuine ink cartridges) here's what you need to know & do:
If you have an instant ink cartridge on your printer, remove it and discard that, you can only use regular cartridges on your printer once you cancel the program.
That said, if you have trouble using regular cartridges, I recommend you turn off the web service using the steps from this link: https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c04808536
when done successfully, check if it works fine.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
