I received an ink Cartridge via my HP Instant Ink account, and it was defective. After following the Virtual Assistants suggestions for about an hour, nothing worked so I had to go out and buy one that did work, but it's not simple on what to do if you're ink catridge is defective. I've now paid double. How do I get a refund of some sort?

The document here has information on contacting HP to get replacement Instant Ink cartridges. Go to the HP Instant Ink site, the phone number (or chat option for some countries) will be listed in the lower center of the opening screen. Alternately, you can click on the Virtual Assistant. When the assistant opens type "Where is my ink?" (w/o the quotes). The system will ask a few questions and then schedule your shipment.
Given that you now have a retail cartridge in the printer it will not properly signal to the Instant Ink service that you need a replacement. I would suggest you contact an HP Instant Ink agent as outlined above.
