Do I pay for a Subscription to Instant Ink and pay for ink cartridges?

I have searched everywhere.  With INSTAND INK...do I pay a monthly subscription plus pay for ink or is it just a monthly subscription?  I probably print 300-500 pages a month or more.  Just trying to sort the best option while I await the arrival of my HP OfficeJet Pro 8035e.

The Instant Ink subscription plan you choose will include as much ink as needed.

The subscription model is based on number of pages printed and NOT on how much ink you use.

There is no "extra charge" for the ink - ink is included in your plan.

A Printed Page is any sheet of paper on which anything is printed.

A full paged, single spaced document with pictures is charged the same as a sheet of paper with a single character.

Each side of a single sheet paper is counted as a Page.  Both sides printed would equal 2 pages.

A full sized, colorful photo print is charged as 1 printed page.

A sheet of paper with a single box, image, or character is counted as 1 printed page.
