Error message is stopping me from connecting to network

HP Recommended
Office Jet 5255
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

We are enrolled in HP Instant Ink.  The printer has lost it's connection to the internet and we can't reestablish it.

When we turn the printer on we get the message "Cartridge cannot be used until printer is enrolled in hp instant ink". It doesn't know that we are enrolled because it is not connected to the internet.  But we can't try to reconnect because we can't get out of this error message.  If we remove the cartridges we get another message  "open the print zone access window and clear any paper jam or obstruction"  We've checked several times; there are no jams or obstructions.

We can not get to the main menu as we can't get out of these messages.  Turning the printer on and off does not fix this problem.
